The Empowering Women 50/50 x 2025 Network invites you to this special event supporting the Victorian Government's gender parity target at this year's Council elections.
Hear from two outstanding keynote speakers, MPs Libby Coker and Gayle Tierney, and meet women candidates standing in the City of Greater Geelong’s eleven new wards.
Libby Coker, Member for Corangamite, and patron of the Empowering Women 50/50 x 2025 Network, will address the democratic importance of women’s leadership and equal representation at all governmental levels – local, State and Federal.
The Honourable Gayle Tierney, Member for Western Victoria, Minister for Skills and TAFE and Minister for Regional Development, will speak on Victoria’s trail blazing gender equality legislation and strategy and action plan, Our Equal State, 2023-2027.
Network members endorse gender equality in Geelong and are active in the current Ask Her to Stand campaign, encouraging women candidates for the October 2024 Council elections. The campaign is an important tool for reaching this year’s gender parity target and is supported by Women in Local Democracy (WILD) and the City of Greater Geelong.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from Geelong’s progressive women candidates and support the election of a Council in 2024 that better reflects the diversity of the community it serves.
