Creatives of all ages are invited to join local artist Fern Smith to help create the longest book in the world.
Mix and Make: Longest Book in the World is part of a series of "making" sessions which encourage people to meet, mix and make in the library.
“The longest book in the world” is a multi-disciplinary arts project aimed at producing a concertina book - the longest book in the world. This will be a community made travel book focusing on popular, treasured, and personal landmarks within the boundaries of the City of Greater Geelong to produce the longest book in the world. Geelong aims to beat the last recorded length of a concertina book of 814.26 metres created by Yang Shuanming of in Taiyuan, Shanxi China in 2019 (as recorded in the Guinness Book of records).
All equipment is supplied - just bring yourself.
The Queenscliff Library is housed in a beautiful heritage building, built in 1887, and services the Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale communities, as well as holidaymakers. Located in the main street of this picturesque coastal village, the branch is a small but much-loved community space. Located next to the Visitor Information Centre and Queenscliffe Historical Museum, the library features public access PCs, free WiFi, study spaces and a large reading room. Regular Preschool Story Time sessions are held here.
