Finding Facts Online
Tuesday, May 12
10:30am - 11:30am
Try your hand at separating fact from fiction and discover techniques you can use to better evaluate what you find online.
There is a lot of information online, but not all of it is what we are really after. This session will look at how we can assess online information sources and their claims.
This is the second of a series of three workshops; the first is Knowing Your Sources Online and the third is AI Images and Deepfakes. These may be attended separately or together.
Geelong West Library
The Geelong West Free Library was opened in the Geelong West Town Hall by Cr John Ince, Mayor of the Borough of Geelong West on 3 July 1885. Its closure was forced in 1890 due to lack of funds but the library reopened in 1891. The Geelong West Free Library relocated in March 1939 to the old Geelong West Court House building. Following minor renovations, the Geelong West Municipal Library was officially opened in 1953 and in 1967 there was an official opening of additions to the library. On 17 October 2008, the Geelong West Library and customer service centre redevelopment was officially opened by the Hon Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Local Government and Cr Barbara H Abley AM DSJ, City of Greater Geelong.
