Preschool story time

Help your child discover the magic of stories and develop a lifelong love of reading. Recommended age: preschool.
What to expect:
- Preschool story time is an interactive session with multiple stories, songs and movement. Each session will include literacy activities such as singing the alphabet song and learning the ‘letter of the week’.
- Children are invited to join in with actions, sing along, and read together with a parent or carer.
- The program is facilitated by a library staff member.
- At Torquay Library the group size can vary between 10 and 30 children, depending on who turns up on the day.
- The content is designed for children aged 3-5 but all preschool ages are welcome.
Bookings and supervision:
- Bookings are not required – you are welcome to drop in on the day!
- Children must be supervised by a responsible person (adult or carer) in our libraries and our programs.

Torquay Library
Located in Torquay’s Surf City Plaza, adjacent to the Surf World Museum and Community Hall, Torquay Library is a popular community gathering space, particularly for families and holidaymakers. The branch features zones for reading, studying and working, a dedicated area for children, public access PCs and free WiFi. Regular Baby, Toddler and Preschool Story Time sessions are held here, and many events and programs for adults are also run throughout the year.
