A discussion commemorating Social Inclusion Week 2020 and International Day for People With a Disability.
A Different Kind of Seeing is a memoir telling the inspiring story of Marie Younan, an Assyrian refugee, accidentally blinded as a child, who after a long and difficult journey eventually migrated to Melbourne. She attended the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind where she learnt English, braille and gained physical mobility with the help of a cane. Marie is now a professional interpreter with counsellors and refugees at the Foundation Centre for Survivors of Torture.
Marie will be accompanied by co-author Jill Sanguinetti.
