A collaboration over a decade by three Bellarine writers has resulted in a crime novella that was launched last month. The book, Argyle: One Island, Four Voices, was written by Jacqui Connor, Jenny Macaulay and Pearl Wilson. The novella is about a fictional lighthouse off the Victorian coastline and moves across more than a century of lighthouse keepers, their families and visitors to the island. The trio will discuss their writing collaboration when they appear at the Drysdale Library in November.
Jacqui Connor has a varied background in the arts as an actor, theatre director, poet and writer. Several of her short stories and poems are in a range of anthologies. Argyle: One Island, Four Voices is her first book.
Jenny Macaulay, a retired teacher, runs a drawing class and facilitates several writing groups including one dedicated to poetry which is under the umbrella of Geelong Writers. Jenny began a local haiku society which connects with other groups throughout Australia. Several of her short stories and poems appear in various anthologies. She painted the cover of Argyle: One Island, Four Voices, her second book.
Pearl Wilson is a published author and former journalist. She wrote the narrative for an art film about the pandemic in 2020. She organises literary events and facilitates a writing group. Several of her short stories appear in various anthologies. Argyle: One Island, Four Voices is her seventh book.
