Local Word Writers Festival is an annual event of local writers presenting workshops, presentations and panel discussions for writers and readers.

In this workshop you will explore different ways of integrating fact into fiction. You will learn strategies for finding and using research in your writing, including what to use and what to omit. There will be a focus on how to integrate facts while keeping the story driven by the all-important narrative.

This workshop will experiment with point of view and why this is important to engage the reader. Participants are encouraged to bring a pen and notebook for writing exercises.

Melissa Wray is a local author who lives on the Bellarine Peninsula and is passionate about education, in particular literacy. With over twenty years of experience as a teacher, she believes the ability to read and write offers the power to change. Her novels include The Lost Loot of Lima, Summer Change, The Ruby Locket and Destiny Road. Melissa was selected for The Maurice Saxby Writers Mentorship Program in 2015.

Up to 15 participants aged 18+. For beginner or hobby writers.

$40* or $20* for Concession Card Holders (all cards accepted).
