Local Word Writers Festival is an annual event of local writers presenting workshops, presentations and panel discussions for writers and readers.

Join us for a hands-on workshop that introduces the fascinating world of envelope poems, inspired by the life and work of Emily Dickinson. You’ll learn about this unique poetic form and its historical context, then create your own work using text, collage, inks, and stamps. All materials provided.

As you experiment with language and mixed media, you’ll explore the dynamic relationship between words, form, and physical construction, just as Dickinson did in her original envelope poems.

Carol Close is an artist and poet who enjoys stretching her mind and seeing how different thoughts and experiences link together. She facilitates the Arts Circle; creative writing & imagery group at Geelong Eastern Hub. She is also a member of Geelong Writers.

Up to 12 participants aged 18+. No particular skill level required.

$40* or $20* for Concession Card Holders (all cards accepted).

*Please note, you must be a Library Member to attend paid events at the Local Word Writers Festival. Membership is free and available immediately online - visit www.grlc.vic.gov.au/services/join-library
