This workshop will demonstrate how to use your survival of traumatic experiences to create a positive life story that holds meaning for you.

Many of us have experienced trauma of some sort and everyone’s history of trauma is unique to them. This workshop will demonstrate how to use your survival of traumatic experiences to create a positive life story that holds meaning for you.

You will be guided through some short writing exercises to support you in developing a brief but powerful narrative that demonstrates your learning and accomplishment.

You will not be asked to talk about your experience or share your written reflections with others – instead, you will be encouraged to put your thoughts on paper, testing out different approaches and styles to tell your own story.

Dr Bev Blaskett (BA hons, MA, DipEd, MEd, PhD, BSW) has worked as a social researcher, social worker and lecturer in welfare history and political sociology, and currently works in aged care. She advocates for public policy and procedural reform that is compassionate and respectful of human rights, particularly with regard to the rights of victims of sexual assault. She contributes to Geelong Writers and coordinates its monthly online ekphrastic writing challenge. She trawls Geelong Regional Libraries resources to inform her memoir writing.

Up to 8 participants aged 18+. For anyone who has an interest in writing their life story.

$40* or $20* for Concession Card Holders (all cards accepted).
