Local Word Writers Festival is an annual event of local writers presenting workshops, presentations and panel discussions for writers and readers.
Writers are always encouraged to ‘find their own voice’, but like all aspects of writing, this is easier said than done. Finding your voice requires the courage to try new techniques and experiment.
Geelong author, Sue Lawson, will guide you through exercises and techniques that build your confidence and help you tap into your creative flow.
Whether your goal is to begin a journal, spruce up your newsletter, start a blog or publish a book, this workshop will strengthen your ‘writing’ muscle, build confidence and allow you to write from your heart.
Award-winning author Sue Lawson is passionate about encouraging people’s love of writing and reading. Her novels, including Pan’s Whisper and Freedom Ride, are recognized for the sensitive way they explore the exciting and heartbreaking complexities of adolescence. Sue collaborates with other writers, including Boonwurrung Elder, Aunty Fay Stweart Muir, to create books that explore and celebrate Australia’s First Nations’ people and their rich culture and history. A former teacher and journalist, Sue spent nearly 20 years in radio, working for both ABC and commercial stations. She currently writes full-time, runs workshops and author talks and facilitates literary interviews and festivals.
Up to 25 participants aged 16+. Suitable for writers of all skill levels.
$40* or $20* for Concession Card Holders (all cards accepted).
