Join us for an engaging and insightful presentation with Dr. Ann Hodgkinson of the Bellarine Historical Society where she will talk about her co-authored book, Griggs Creek: Its Forgotten History.

Griggs Creek: Its Forgotten History, written by Ann Hodgkinson and Diane Kolomeitz in 2024.

The Bellarine Suburbs of Curlewis and Clifton Springs lie either side of Griggs Creek on what was once the important farming property of Greenvale. The book recounts the struggles of the Williamson and Grigg families to retain ownership through drought, depression and acquisition for closer settlement. They also played significant roles in the Geelong Football Club and The Australian Flax industry.  This talk will also include some historical information on the First Nations community in this area.

Ann Hodgkinson, PhD, had an academic career, specialising in regional economics. In later years, she studied local and family history and now works with the Bellarine Historical Society, researching early properties in the area.
