Have you ever wondered where the inspiration for an author to write a book comes from? Or a musician to write a song? Join Joe Matera and learn how the music magic happens.
Being a musician and an author might seem worlds apart, but they have much more in common than one think. For the past twenty-five years, musician, music journalist and author Joe Matera, has etched out a living from both, seamlessly moving between both in his music and writing career. From undertaking European concert tours, to writing for some of the world’s biggest music magazines to author of two best-selling books, Backstage Pass: The Grit and the Glamour and Louder Than Words: Beyond the Backstage Pass.
Yet the glamorous public persona of both couldn’t be further than the realities of it all. What goes on behind the scenes is often less discussed than of that what happens in the public arena.
Have you ever wondered where does the inspiration come for an author to write a book? Or a musician to write a song? What does the process entail in creating for either? Want a sneak behind the curtain of what touring is really like?
Famed author Stephen King once stated, “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” The same applies to being a musician too; listen to music a lot, and play a lot. And in fact, it can apply to any chosen career path.
In this workshop, Matera shares stories of his writing and musical life, lifting the curtain on what goes on behind the scenes, in turn offering insights, anecdotes and helpful tips for any aspiring writer and musician, and any fan and lover of books and music.
