This workshop will demonstrate how you can transform your ideas and experiences into a pitch. It will examine the personal side of writing opinion pieces and delve into some of the mechanics of memoir. This workshop will also examine the practice of blogging for building experience, and how you can get your work to a publishable standard and build an audience.
Although Cherie Gilmour has written her whole life, she started writing opinion pieces for The Age and Sydney Morning Herald in 2022 and has been writing regularly ever since. She has written for other publications, like The Big Issue, Eureka Street, ABC Religion and Ethics, Kidspot and psychology features for MiNDFOOD magazine. She has previously run creative writing classes in Torquay and is embarking on a teaching career. She is working on her first novel.
