Jo Langdon - Delivery
A Local Word Pop-Up Event
Tuesday, September 08
5:30pm - 6:30pm
Join local authors Jo Langdon and Maria Takolander in conversation about Jo's new poetry collection, Delivery.
The poems in Delivery engage with experiences of childbirth, postpartum care and early parenthood, together with works of ekphrasis and biography responding to the art and life of the Polish sculptor Alina Szapocznikow—who would have turned 100 this year, on 16 May, 2026. From her visceral plastic and marble figures, functional lip lamps and soft furnishings to the epistolary expressions of her personal letters, the poems of Delivery seek to honour and retain the humour, ambiguities and fierce intelligence of Szapocznikow’s artworks and traces of her voice, while forging something new in the space and form of poetic language.
Jo will be in conversation with Maria Takolander.
Book sales and author signings will be offered at the conclusion of the event.
If you need any assistance in order to participate in this event, please contact events@grlc.vic.gov.au at least two weeks prior to the event date.
