Introduction to the basics of creating graphic novels, for participants aged 13 and above.
This presentation will introduce participants to the basics of creating graphic novels, starting with an overview of the comic format and its use in different genres. Participants will dive into the nuts and bolts of comics, looking at structure, the marriage of image and words, point-of-view, and pacing. Renée will share details about her process of writing and illustrating a graphic novel and provide guidance for finding a publisher.
Renée Treml is a best-selling author and illustrator of twenty-five picture books for young readers. Published with Penguin Random House Australia, Allen and Unwin, and Capstone (USA), several of her books have won and been short-listed for awards.
Suitable for beginner to aspiring writers aged 13 and above*

Waurn Ponds Library is located next to LeisureLink aquatic and fitness centre, over the road from Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre. The modern building features a children’s area on the ground floor with a semi-outdoor reading deck and family room. The first floor offers flexible areas for reading and study, and large non-fiction and young adult collections. Other features include public access PCs, free WiFi, coffee and vending machines, and a meeting room for community hire. Regular Baby, Toddler and Preschool Story Time sessions are held here.
