Heather Gallagher joins us in Perinatal Mental Health week to talk about her picture book: Happy Pants - Why is Mummy so sad?
What is perinatal and postnatal mental health? Heather Gallagher, children’s author and freelance journalist, joins us in Perinatal Mental Health week to talk about her picture book, Happy Pants – Why is Mummy so sad? The book Happy Pants was inspired by Heather’s experience with post-natal depression and she is passionate about breaking down the stigma associated with mental illness. Happy Pants was a recommended title in the Australian Family Therapist’s awards for children’s literature.
We will be joined in conversation following Heather’s talk by one of City of Greater Geelong’s Maternal and Child Health nurses and also Belinda Schmidtke from St John of God Raphael Services. Raphael Services is a perinatal mental health service that has been serving the Greater Geelong region for over ten years, providing up to ten sessions of individual and group counselling for parents who are experiencing mental health difficulties from conception up to when their child is 4 years old.
