Brought to you by Alice Eaves, eco poet based in Edinburgh, Scotland, working through the Melbourne City of Literature Virtual Writer in Residence program.

This workshop will start by guiding participants through a basic education in some exciting native Australian plant species and their various cultural, religious, and medicinal histories. Those attending will then be taken through some exercises to create their own eco-poetry that is inspired by their relationship with the landscape and knowledge they may have learnt during the session.

This workshop invites both new and seasoned poets to be bold and experimental with their writing in a setting that is relaxed and inclusive. This session seeks to promote the conversation around climate anxiety and how we can use creative practice as a medium for social activism and ecological change.

Alice Eaves is a community-engaged writer, artist and creative facilitator from Lancashire, currently living and working in Edinburgh. She is a runner-up for the Grierson Verse Prize, recipient of a Peshkar Artist Development Award and Director of the Ukraine Poetry Project, which aims to bring Ukrainian poets and translators voices to the UK through publication. She has been published or forthcoming with The Lit Platform, The Manchester Review, the University of St Andrews and with Forest Publications. She has just completed her MSc in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh.

Tickets $30pp OR $20pp for GRLC Members (free to join) OR $10 for Concession holders.
