Local Word Writers Festival is an annual three-day event of local writers presenting workshops, presentations and panel discussions for writers and readers.
What does it take to get a novel or memoir signed? What does a literary agent do? Can I send a manuscript directly to a publisher? What's the difference between publishing and self-publishing, and how do I take the next step?
These are just a few of the questions often asked in online writing groups, workshops and writers forums. There’s a huge amount of information on the internet and understandably, emerging writers often don't know where to start. So let’s talk all things publishing!
Featuring novelist and editor/writing coach, Liz Monument, author of Rural Business Women and hybrid publisher, Sarah Walkerden, local published poet and author of Potty Mouth, Potty Mouth, Alex Creece and Abbey Lay, whose first novel Lead Us Not was shortlisted for the Victorian Premier’s Award for an Unpublished Manuscript. Chaired by Jen Kloester, who has written extensively about bestselling British novelist, Georgette Heyer.
Send your question/s in advance to events@grlc.vic.gov.au (subject: “Question for Publishing Panel”) or come along on the day and join the discussion.
Entry is free but bookings are required.
