Recycled racers

On your marks, get set, go! Make a racing vehicle using recycled materials then test your design against other racers. Stopwatches provided. BYO imagination. Recommended age: 8+
What to expect:
- This is a school holiday program facilitated by a library staff member with a maximum group size of 15 children.
- This a hands-on workshop for both children and accompanying adults.
- Participants will learn about energy in relation to moving objects, make a wheel axle, craft a vehicle out of recycled materials to attach to the axle, then design a race track to race off against others.
- Discussion, resource sharing and teamwork will feature between participants.
Bookings and supervision:
- Children under 12 years must be supervised by a responsible person (adult or carer) in our libraries and our programs. Adult assistance and participation in this activity will be required.
- Bookings are essential to save your place in the program.
- Please cancel your booking if anyone in your group is unwell on the day of the program, or if you are no longer able to attend so we can contact our waitlist.
- Bookings close one day prior to the session.

About the Library
Located in Torquay’s Surf City Plaza, adjacent to the Surf World Museum and Community Hall, Torquay Library is a popular community gathering space, particularly for families and holidaymakers. The branch features zones for reading, studying and working, a dedicated area for children, public access PCs and free WiFi. Regular Baby, Toddler and Preschool Story Time sessions are held here, and many events and programs for adults are also run throughout the year.
