Corio Meeting RoomHave you ever encountered a public figure or news story claiming something that you weren't sure about? Learn how you can fact check these claims.
Sometimes a statement from a public figure or organisation doesn’t sound quite right. In this introductory session we’ll learn the skills and techniques to discover the facts and assess the claim ourselves.
This is the fourth in a series of workshops; the first is Is This Fake News? Knowing Your Sources Online, the second is Can I Trust It? Assessing Websites and the third is Is That Real? AI Images and Deepfakes.
These may be attended separately or together.
What to expect:
- This is an educational program that includes a presentation, individual and group activities.
- You will learn about checking if a statement or claim can be checked, and how we can investigate to see if it is true or false.
- It is facilitated by a library staff member and has an expected attendance of up to 15 participants.
