One of the nation's most recognised photographic collectives, MAPgroup is an independent association of approximately 40 documentary photographers.
Beyond Borders is an exhibition of powerful photographs and multimedia stories, which presents an alternative view on one of the nation's most divisive issues. Few of us have had the opportunity to know people in this harrowing position and hear their stories. Participants - who are from countries including Somalia, the Congo, Syria, Afghanistan, Thailand and South Sudan - share their unique stories in their own words, reminding us that these are people, not problems. The exhibition is the work of Many Australian Photographers Group (MAPgroup), who collaborated with refugees and asylum seekers to share their experiences of seeking asylum under extremely challenging circumstances.
MAPgroup, an independent association of approximately 40 documentary photographers, is recognised for telling stories not often told by the mainstream media. More information: https://www.mapgroup.org.au/beyond-borders
Beyond Borders, which replaces Untitled.Showa, will be on show until 28th October, when it will be replaced by a new exhibition called Framing Age, created by the Barwon Community Legal Seniors Festival project.
