Join us for an enlightening evening under the stars as we explore topics crucial to our understanding of the universe and our place within it.
To celebrate Science Week 2024, the Astronomical Society of Victoria (Geelong division) are presenting a special evening on Species Survival – More Than Just Sustainability.
Join us for an engaging night under the stars, including guest presenter Stephi Bernard. Stephi will discuss discuss how different types of stars evolve and how we can determine the age of the universe. Stephi is the Learning Facilitator at Scienceworks, an Astro lab demonstrator at the University of Melbourne and a Student Volunteer at Telescopes in Schools project.
Also joining us is Kelly Clitheroe who will talk about how we need to preserve dark skies for the health of the planet. Kelly will also present What's in the Sky tonight? A quick tour of the night sky and an explanation of what may be visible. Kelly is a secondary school teacher at Bellarine Secondary School.
There will also be an opportunity for telescope viewing, weather permitting.
