The Colac Library and Cultura are partnering to deliver an interactive session for families, focused on mental health and wellbeing.
Sue Hindle, author of the children’s book, You Matter a book about mindfulness, self-care and empowerment.
Written for primary school-aged children this book is filled with easy and practical activities to help children recognise their emotions and feelings. It offers fun and varied ways to understand and navigate any feelings that may arise.
It’s a reminder that “No feeling is good or bad. Some may make you feel comfortable, while others may make you feel uncomfortable. It’s important to remember that you are not your feelings. Feelings come and go but you are always there”.
Sue will lead the session, sharing practical self-care tools and strategies from her book. This can include breathing practices, movement, sound and affirmations, using sound bowls, affirmation and colour cards.
The Colac Community Library and Learning Centre is a modern, state-of-the art facility built in 2010 for the Colac district community. The centre accommodates the general community, Colac Secondary College students and other learning groups including TAFE and U3A students.
