6:00pm - 7:30pm
Geelong Library and Heritage Centre (The Dome)
Gathering Place (Ground Floor)Experience virtual reality, developed with industry to understand new technologies and future career possibilities. Experiences include clean energy futures and exploring road safety near trucks.
What to expect
Deakin’s Virtual Reality (VR) Lab will host an immersive session, where you can explore and experience two Deakin University virtual reality applications which include Clean Energy Futures VR and Truck Wise VR. The Clean Energy VR application focuses on clean-energy technologies including microgrid, hydrogen hub, battery hub and solar car and explores STEM related career pathways. Truck Wise VR uses immersive scenarios to support heavy-vehicle road safety awareness.
Alongside the VR experiences, attendees will learn more about how immersive technologies are developed, how they can create interactive learning environments, and where technologies such as virtual reality may be applied across industry, education and research. The workshop is designed as an informal, accessible opportunity to experience VR first-hand, ask questions and explore the possibilities of immersive technology.
Participants will utilise a virtual reality headset to explore one or both applications. This can be done seated or standing up.
The session starts at 6pm and participants can arrive at anytime up until 7.30pm - participants can commence at any time that is convenient for them.
