"For sale: baby shoes, never worn." This may be Hemingway's shortest story but it's all there in six words.
Flash fiction, or Microfiction, has exploded in journals, anthologies and online. Popular genres include romance, thrillers, horror, sci-fi and fanfiction. Some of the most affecting examples of flash fiction shine a light on our vulnerabilities, quirks— our humanity. Join me by reading samples of very short fiction by celebrated writers. Look at those surprise endings, learn techniques and respond to weird and wonderful prompts to create funny, sad and strange fictions. Your small story could become your novel, tv series, movie, autobiography.
Start foraging for inspiration. Feel free to bring along a dream, a pic, a weird experience, a funny headline, a receipt, a fantasy. See it take shape as a work of art.
