Carole O'Neill will explore the many benefits of birdlife to our local environment and well-being, while showcasing the beauty and diversity of the birds that share our surroundings.
The Bellarine Peninsula is home to a rich diversity of birdlife, from wetland species and bush birds to those that gracefully soar along our coastline and seas. However, with ongoing development, human activity is gradually encroaching on nature’s territory. Through a little thoughtfulness and care, we can find a balance that allows both humans and nature to coexist peacefully. In this presentation, Carole O'Neill will explore the many benefits of birdlife to our environment and well-being, while showcasing the beauty and diversity of the birds that share our surroundings — from those in the wild to those visiting our own backyards.
Carole O'Neill is a passionate birder who has travelled to the Galapagos, the Arctic and Antarctic in her search to photograph and observe birds. Since her retirement from years of education teaching in both schools and universities, Carole has had the freedom to become a 'birder', exploring her local environment on the Bellarine Peninsula. As a member of the Bellarine Peninsula Birdlife Group, Carole writes and presents on a regular basis.

Ocean Grove is the largest town on the Bellarine and boasts a long library history – a free library opened in the public hall in 1910 and our current library was opened as part of The Grove Centre in 1993. This busy library has frequent children’s activities enlivening the space and reflecting the diverse demographics of our community.
