Footprints on Country

All day
This artwork began with a footprint ? the simple, powerful act of stepping onto Country with care. Our footprints became a conversation between people, place, and purpose.
Kiri Tawhai – Artist – “Footprints on Country”
This artwork was created in community at an Australian Conservation Foundation Geelong family fun day, the canvas became a meeting place — for adults and children, for conversation and care, for movement and pause. Together we walked across its surface, each step a gentle consideration of the marks we leave on Country. A practice of noticing. Of stepping with intention.
This artwork is both record and reminder:
that Country remembers us,
that our footsteps matter,
and that when we walk together — slowly, consciously — we must care for Country as it cares for us.
