By the end of this workshop, participants will have the motivation, skills and a plan to tackle their own memoir project.
Memoir writing appeals to those who want to record their family’s history for future generations.
But going a step further and psychologically analysing the story of your life can have surprising benefits, including:
· Making peace with traumas of the past,
· Increased self awareness and insight,
· Learning valuable lessons about life, and
· Planning for the years ahead.
In this three hour practical workshop, Peter will describe the benefits of writing a ‘psychological’ memoir, and provide hands-on skills and techniques for doing so, based on the contents of his 2022 book, ‘IF I WERE YOU – A psychologist puts himself on the couch’.
Peter Quarry is best known as the onscreen psychologist delivering advice on relationship problems, achieving professional success and psychological wellbeing with what the Boston Business Journal described as “great clarity and affability”.
Having studied at Melbourne University in the mid 1970s, he worked initially as a counsellor of the unemployed, then pivoted to being a sought after pubic speaker and workshop facilitator.
In the 1980s, he co-foundered Ash Quarry Productions and became the expert presenter of corporate training videos that, over the following 20 prolific years, gained global recognition. Many were translated into multiple languages and won dozens of international awards.
By the early 1990s, Peter came to the notice of ‘Good Morning Australia’, hosted by the legendary Bert Newton, where he secured a regular slot as the sometimes fun, sometimes serious ‘Resident Psychologist’.
