Johnstone Park was once part of a greater waterway, a vibrant gathering place for Wadawurrung people when visiting the gully and its banks.
Explore the early history of Djilang through a tale woven along Western Gully, winding its way from Geelong West to Corio Bay.
Glimpses of this important waterway can still be found today, through early drawings, photographs and maps, and from a vantage point situated on high ground amongst the canopy of Johnstone Park’s significant trees.
Gathering Place: Western Gully connects the past to the present and ensures stories of our shared histories can be told and retold into the future.
